Vice President, Communications, Strategy and Sustainability

An experienced charitable health sector leader and senior communications professional, Stewart brings a wealth of experience in strategy, leadership, communications, operations, and advocacy.  He has a passion for service and excitement for delivering on Holland Bloorview’s vision of the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth and families.

Stewart joined Holland Bloorview in 2016 as vice president, communications, marketing and advocacy.  He co-created the evolution of the communications and public engagement team, a multiple-award-winning team that he has led in partnership with the Holland Bloorview Foundation. He is recognized as a highly engaged leader of teams, merging high performance, collaboration, humour and impactful results in all he does. During his time at Holland Bloorview, Stewart has served as co-chair of the pandemic steering committee, led the implementation of child-friendly, accessible COVID-19 vaccine clinics and played key leadership roles in Holland Bloorview’s last two 100% achievement accreditation cycles.

In 2023, Stewart was appointed to his current role, providing executive oversight of communications, strategy and sustainability which includes building, environmental and food services. Prior to Holland Bloorview, Stewart spent nearly 15 years working at two of Canada’s largest national health charities, the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada and the Arthritis Society. He served in a variety of roles covering fundraising, strategy, marketing, media relations and communications.

On a volunteer basis, Stewart has served as a board member and vice-president of government relations at the Greater Toronto Chapter Association of Fundraising Professionals. He has also volunteered with Imagine Canada as a peer reviewer for the Standards Program and worked as a press operations supervisor at the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Stewart teaches corporate social responsibility as a part-time professor in the Public Relations Certificate program at Humber College.
