Dr. William Onuwa, as Head of Insurance Risk Management at RBC, has the overall responsibility for risk management and actuarial groups. He serves on the executive team responsible for setting the overall strategic direction for RBC Insurance.
Prior to joining RBC financial group Canada in 2007, William was employed by General Electric (GE) USA, as the European General Manager responsible for Asset Management and headquartered in the U.K. where he originally started his career; he also held various other executive leadership positions in the USA for GE. In addition, William has executive level career experiences in the Caribbean financial services industry where he had P/L accountabilities for four countries.
William holds a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from the University of Surrey in England, an MBA in Finance from the University of West Indies and a BSc in Political Science. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London (FCII), and a GE certified Master Black Belt and six sigma practitioner.
He has a long history of service to community and charitable organizations and currently serves Chair of the Finance and Audit committee of the board of Yonge Street Mission in Canada as well as a member of the advisory council of the BBBS of Canada.
He is the Chair of the Research, Teaching and Learning Committee and a member of the Business & Audit Committee of the Board.
